With home improvement season right around the corner, a lot of people are looking at fitted wardrobes with envious eyes.

However, thanks to our online wardrobe builder, you can have a high-quality bespoke fitted wardrobe without having to compromise on quality, designed to your specifications.

There are a lot of considerations to make and important decisions to consider when setting up your fitted wardrobe, but it is important to dispel any common myths and misconceptions.

With that in mind, here are some of the most common myths told about fitted wardrobes, and the seed of truth behind them.

Are Fitted Wardrobes Only For The Wealthy?

It is important not to conflate luxury with expense here, and whilst the concept of a fitted wardrobe was exclusively for wealthy homeowners and manor houses, there exists a wide spectrum of fitted wardrobes suitable for all budgets.

This is the biggest reason why we developed a made-to-measure wardrobe designer in the first place; you get the highest quality materials in an easy-to-build flatpack package, allowing us to pass the savings onto you.

You can install it however you like; whilst getting it professionally installed is always a very good idea, if you have the confidence to fit it yourself, the option is open to you.

Are Fitted Wardrobes Inflexible?

Fitted wardrobes are built to last; they are designed for a specific set of room dimensions, and they cannot be moved without being disassembled, but this does not mean they are necessarily inflexible.

There is a lot of scope to add and remove features. We have dedicated racks for trousers, shoes and effective jewellery organisation, the shelves can often be tweaked if you need to, and you have the experience of building it to help you make any necessary adjustments.

A fitted wardrobe is built around you, and as you change, there are ways to change or adapt your fitted wardrobe around you.

Ultimately, fitted wardrobes are generally installed in spaces with relatively consistent layouts. A master bedroom is unlikely to fundamentally change that much.

Do Fitted Wardrobes Affect The Resale Value Of Your Home?

There has been some debate about how fitted wardrobes, and fixed features of a house more broadly, affect the value of your home. Ultimately, it can, although typically when it does, it is in a positive direction.

Whilst the focus of many homebuyers is space, a well-placed, well-designed fitted wardrobe can add value to a home or help a buyer envision themselves in the space more than a conventional wardrobe or moveable storage solution.

Built-in storage has become a big selling point in recent years, either by increasing the actual value of the home or making it easier to close the sale with an interested buyer.

Are There Additional Costs To Fitted Wardrobes?

Transparency is something we find critical, and so before you buy from us, we are clear about how much the set costs, how much any additional accessories, features or corniches cost, and the cost of installation depends on whether you want to fit it yourself or not.

We are a supply-only company, so there are no hidden installation charges; you can ever build it yourself using our clear instructions or shop around for someone to put the kit together for you and ensure you get the finish you want.

Are Fitted Wardrobes Only Good For Large Bedrooms?

Whilst they are most commonly associated with master bedrooms, and there is a lot of value to be had in fitting them to the back wall of a big bedroom, smaller bedrooms actually get the greatest net benefit from a fitted wardrobe.

They are designed around the unusual size constraints of a small bedroom and maximise the space available. As long as there is enough room for the wardrobe to open, there is no reason why it cannot be used in a smaller bedroom.

Are Fitted Wardrobes Good Value For Money?

Fitted wardrobes are a long-term investment; rather than spending a few hundred pounds every couple of years to replace ill-suited flatpack furniture, buying a bespoke fitted solution provides not only higher quality now but also a long life and many years of use.

Rather than having to deal with unstable drawers or flimsy hinges on doors, you will have a wardrobe that is as sturdy and comfortable as the day you bought it.

As both the designer and installer of the wardrobe, the design and functionality are based around your needs, and that means that once you have a forever home and expectations for your wardrobe, you can design around your needs now and in the future.
